Do music college audition requirements ever change?

I want to apply to the University of Northern Colorado in a couple years (I'm a sopre in high school) and I'm about to begin working on pieces for my audition. I checked their requirements and they are asking for a Mozart concerto but my teacher wanted me to learn the Beethoven. Do the requirements ever change? If not, would they let me substitute it? I emailed them a while back but they never got back to me.
